In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare explores the idea of it by letting the audience be a part of the Characters destiny’s.
We know in the end that Romeo and Juliet will die however we hope and pray that maybe the destiny might be changed but that is not to be so. The Fate and Destiny of the couple is already decided.
Example: If Juliet would have woken up before Romeo decided to kill himself. We know that they’ll both die however we its fate, So it cant be change.
We wonder who decides fate; some say it just luck, some say its God who’s up in the sky, making our choices for us. But “Back in The Day”, (Shakespearean Time) they believed that God was the one.
They thought and they still think today that God decides when your time is.
However Romeo and Juliet “disobeyed” God by decides themselves, by committing suicide.

This is a good start, and your thinking about fate is interesting. It’s great that you’re considering the role of the audience and also society’s attitudes at the time (as well as now)
You will also need to talk much more specifically about the exact METHODS that shakespeare uses to express his ideas about fate in the play.
If you want to be reminded of these, you can both have another look at the planning from the whiteboard that we did as a class:

and you might also want to view the explanation of fate that is on the Year 9 Romeo and Juliet Page:

Hope this helps!
